Dalwhinnie 15 Years Old Highland Single Malt [750ML]
RM260.00
Dalwhinnie is a brand that produces Highland Single Malt Scotch whisky, located in the Highland village of Dalwhinnie in Scotland. Dalwhinnie refers to its own whisky as a Highland Whisky, as the Speyside region is wholly within the Highlands and so Speyside distilleries can be legally labelled as either Highlands or Speyside under SWA regulations. The name Dalwhinnie is derived from the Gaelic word Dail Chuinnidh, which translates to the meeting place, referring to the meeting of ancient cattle drovers’ routes through the mountains.
Originally built as the Strathspey Distillery in 1897, it was renamed Dalwhinnie soon after when the facility was sold in an auction in the midst of financial difficulties. As with many Scottish distilleries, Dalwhinnie changed hands multiple times and is now owned by Diageo.
Clear spring water from Lochan-Doire-Uaine and abundant peat from the surrounding bogs were the two main reasons the site was picked for the distillery. Dalwhinnie is the second-highest distillery in Scotland with a visitor centre at 352 meters above sea level with some recorded lowest temperatures in the United Kingdom. The highest distillery sits at 354 meters above sea level. Dalwhinnie is unique as the distillery still uses wooden worm tubs and only two copper spirit stills. Much of the distillery’s output is used in the Black & White Blended Scotch whisky.
Dalwhinnie 15 Years is a Highland Single Malt Scotch whisky from the highest and coldest region in Scotland with flavours that are simple, flawless and clean. Dalwhinnie 15 Years became part of the Six Classic Malts in Scotland in 1989. Bottled at 43% ABV.
