Grand Old Parr 12 Years Blended Scotch [1000ML]
RM180.00
The Greenless brothers of London, James and Samuel took inspiration for their blended scotch whisky from Old Thomas Parr, who was said to be Britain’s oldest man when he died in 1635 age 152. In tribute to his legendary symbol of wisdom and maturity, King Charles I proclaimed by special decree to bury Old Tom Parr at Westminster Abbey. The longevity signifies the maturity of a good whisky. Old Tom Parr lived through the reign of ten monarchs and witnessed the golden age of Queen Elizabeth I.
The brothers established Greenlees as a whisky blender and merchant in 1871 at Gresham Building in the city of London. After 1909, the Greenlees brothers introduced the first bottling called Ancient Old Parr. It quickly became popular in London but eventually, it grew more successful as an export. The brand’s highest sales are in the export markets of Japan and South America. The label was updated and the word Ancient replaced with Grand in 1941. The Old Parr brand was eventually passed on to DCL’s successor, Diageo, and remains part of the British company’s ‘Local Stars’ portfolio.
The 18-year-old Old Parr Superior was launched in 1989, while Old Parr Elizabethan and Tribute extensions were dropped. The latter was re-released for the Colombian market in 2014. The Columbians love the brand so much that they wrote songs about Old Parr. Old Par Superior 18 Years is blended in small quantities in Scotland only twice a year.
Grand Old Parr 12 Years is a full flavoured blended Scotch whisky that is smooth and mellow to the palate. Bottled at 43% ABV.
