Highland Park 10 Years Island Single Malt [700ML]

Highland Park Distillery is the northernmost Island single malt Scotch whisky distillery located in Kirkwall on the Orkney Islands in Scotland. Magnus Eunson founded Highland Park Distillery. Magnus was a butcher and church officer by day and illicit distiller and whisky smuggler by night. In 1798, Magnus was caught illegally distilling whisky on the site. Nearly 30 years later, in 1826, Highland Park received an official license to distill whisky.

The Distillery found its feet in the 1870s under the ownership of William Stuart and is now part of The Edrington Group.

Highland Park Distillery does not refer to the Scottish Highlands but rather to the fact that the distillery was founded on an area called ‘High Park’ distinguished from a lower area nearby. Highland Park Distillery produces Island single malt Scotch whisky with its signature local peat, which contains higher proportions of heather compared to other peats in the Scotland. Highland Park is also known for its maturation process of using only 100% Sherry casks since 2004.

Highland Park 10 Years is an Island single malt Scotch whisky that was launched as an entry whisky, and has been available since 2013.

TO THE EYES

Butterscotch.

TO THE NOSE

Intertwined aromas of fruit and peat. Heather, sea, breeze, oranges, apples, and peaches in particular.

TO THE PALATE

Coastal notes greet the tongue, followerd by apple, pear, almond, bitter herbs, ginger, and zest with a pinch of salt.

TO THE END

Soft and faint traces of nutty sweetness with green notes.
