RM190.00
Laphroaig Distillery is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky distillery named after the area of land at the head of Loch Laphroaig on the south coast of the island of Islay. The Johnstons Brothers, Donald and Alexander Johnston established the distillery in 1815. The brothers initially used the Laphroaig land to grow barley as food for cattle, the excess barley being used to produce Laphroaig whisky. The last member of the Johnston family to run the distillery was Ian Hunter, a nephew of Sandy Johnston, who died childless in 1954 and left the distillery to one of his managers, Bessie Williamson. Laphroaig Distillery was owned by the family for 139 years before Suntory purchased it in April 2014.
Laphroaig is the only whisky brand to carry the Royal Warrant of Prince of Wales which was awarded in person by Charles Prince of Wales, Duke of Rothesay, when he visited the distillery in 1994.
Laphroaig Distillery has a plentiful supply of peaty water from Kilbride Reservoir which is exclusively owned by the distillery. The peat beds responsible for Laphroaig signature peaty single malts are carefully hand-cut and periodically replenished.
Laphroaig Select Cask is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky that combines five specifically selected casks. The whisky is matured in Oloroso Sherry butts, Pedro Ximinez seasoned hogshead, first-fill bourbon quarter casks and the maturation in new American oak casks. Laphroaig 10 Years is the final addition to complete Laphroaig Select Cask. Bottled at the standard 40% ABV.
